Well its been almost 6 weeks since I last wrote and I’ve had a couple requests for updates so here I am!
On the one hand it feels like not much has happened but on the other I know that isn’t true. Looking back on August now it was a relaxing break even though I did a lot. I made my way out to Calgary for about a week and a half to visit family. I stayed with my aunt Debbie, uncle Rob and cousins Lauren and Lindsey. I got to see my grandparents a bit while I was there as well. We even got a little visit from Arna, Jason, Hailey and Kailin while I was there! The trip was really nice. I got to spend a lot of time with Lauren and Lindsey who I hadn’t seen in a couple of years. Those girls are so darling. They were a lot of fun to play with and boy do they have a lot of energy all the time! Kudos to Debbie and Rob! (Again, Debbie if you need help in the future and want to take a trip you have my number! … of if you want someone to come along on a trip too I’d always be down for that! haha)
I spent the rest of August preparing for September. Finally found the will to clean out my closet, and organize my possessions. It feels nice to minimize the material clutter in my life, though I still have some work to do. I’m really trying to buck my hoarding tendencies. Trust me they aren’t bad enough to warrant an intervention, but I do keep things for a little too long.
September has been quite a ride so far. I started a post graduate program at Humber College in public relations and I feel like it’s exactly what I should be studying. Three weeks in we’ve been learning a lot and I’m finding it all very interesting. We are learning a lot about good PR writing. Boy do I have a lot of improving to do. It’ll be fun to see how my writing changes over the year that’s for sure.
Since starting school I’ve been keeping busy – aside from readings and homework. I volunteered with Fashion’s Night Out in Toronto and signed up to help with the Grey Cup Festival in November. I’ve been able to meet up with a couple of friends in Toronto and took a trip to Ottawa last weekend. Good times.
Life’s been pretty marvellous here. The only thing is I can’t seem to stop thinking about Iceland. It’s getting better than it was though… which is a good thing? I’m not sure. I sent a message to the other Snorri participants and they seemed to be dealing with similar feelings. I also spoke with a friend about his trip to Croatia this summer (where his family is from) and he is sharing a similar sense of longing to go back. Its comforting to hear I’m not the only one. Regardless, knowing that I have this “new obsession” I decided to look for ways to try and fulfil it in a healthily manner. Last week the Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto was holding their AGM (annual general meeting) so I decided to attend. I’m now on their executive as Media Relations exec which is pretty great because it means I get to practice the skills I’m learning from the program and also daydream about Iceland. Perfect set up for me right now!
Well, aside from what I’ve written I haven’t been up to too much. Thinking about stuff all the time. Being grateful for what I have. Enjoying my current adventure and looking forward to the next.
Until the next update.
love and wanderlust,
