I’m a fan of change, especially when it comes to my hair. Every couple years I grow it out just to make a drastic cut.

I had grown tired of my mermaid hair and needed to switch it up so I decided it was time to do this again and participated in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Fearless Challenge. The money raised through the Canadian Cancer Society goes towards helping fund ground-breaking research on all types of cancer and provide free information and support services for patients and caregivers. The money also helps educate Canadians about prevention and early detection. It’s estimated that 2 out of 5 Canadians are expected to develop cancer during their lifetimes. With cancer being so prevalent, I can’t imagine someone having not been touched by it in some way, I decided to try and raise a little bit of money in addition to donating my hair. My goal was to raise $500.00 before making the cut, but ended up raising $750! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone to donated! You are all awesome people! Originally I was only going to donate 10 inches of hair but I had so much, 13 inches seemed fine! My lovely friend, Karen, from Knot Just Dreads made the cut and styled my hair afterwards. (If you’re in Toronto and looking for a fantastic stylist – go to her!) The hair is being sent off to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program to be made into wigs. (Pantene is partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society.) Take a look at the photos! So much easier it is to sleep and shower now! Think of all the money I’ll save on shampoo! I’m loving the new look! 🙂
