In case you didn’t know it, Sunday evenings are for knitting.
In the fall I decided to start up a knitting group, cuz I’m a cool kid. I wasn’t feeling all too inspired and I hadn’t picked up needles in quite some time, even with all the quality wool a girl could ask for. Sunday evenings have been set aside for knitting and it’s been fantastic. Such a great way to get together with quality friends, catching up, working on projects/ask for help and learn from each other!
Now, if I’m honest, I don’t know much when it comes to knitting. What size needle should you use? … Yarn is weighed? What does that even tell you? Gauge? How many stitches? I don’t know and I kind of like it that way. It makes it a little bit more of an adventure, right? Sure I use patterns but just like when using recipes to cook, I like to do my own thing. Will the sweater fit when I’m done? Who knows? I’m a rebel, didn’t you know that?
As a group we’ve been sharing knowledge, patterns and stitches. This one has been quite a hit so I thought I’d share it.
I made a basic scarf using my favourite stitch which I made up one day. (I’m sure it’s been done before) The group’s been calling it “The Sacha Stitch” and seem to like like the look of it so I thought I’d share it. If you like it, try it out!
- On straight needles, cast on an even number of stitches.
- K first stitch, K2tog, y/o repeat until last stitch – knit last stitch.
- Repeat until you’re happy with the length and cast off.
- Badaboom badabing! That’s that, knit away my friends.

Do you still run a knitting group? I’m always on the lookout for knitting friends 🙂

We did end up getting together this year but I’d be looking to get it going again 🙂
