Yesterday I experienced my first ever TELUS Days of Giving! I joined nearly 500 other team members, retirees, government representatives, customers, friends and family in Scarborough for a social art rally led by Kirsten McCrea and local non-for profit Mural Routes.
The day was spent painting canvasses that will be pieced together to create a large mural, displayed on the Scarborough Village Rec Centre. The day was also spent dancing… because where there’s music, there’s dancing.
While it was a bit chilly, the sun was shinning and everyone was having a great time. Gabe and I arrived early as we had some special guests to welcome: Matthew Santoro, Nicole Arbour and Joel Levy!

Can I just say, I love these two? Dancing in public is one of my favourite things (my Matthew can attest to that… he’s not the biggest fan of it) and these two were not afraid to bust a move. Love that! They were a blast.

PS… Um… my phone was blowing up when Nicole and Matthew re-tweeted that.

Everyone followed the massive paint by numbers project and the mural started to come together.

The final project will look like this… except bigger… much bigger.

I had such a great time but more importantly, we did some great work for a great cause! I am really proud to work for a company that cares about the communities we work in and focuses on giving back. “We Give Where We Live” is a great slogan, but what’s even better is that it isn’t just words, it’s a true philosophy.
This year, TELUS Days of Giving is taking place between May 16 and June 14 with more than 16,000 TELUS team members, retirees, friends and family from coast to coast coming together to give back and support the communities where they live and work. Since 2006, more than 94,500 team members, retirees, family and friends to volunteer at more than 1,000 TELUS-organized activities benefiting the communities as part of TELUS Days of Giving.
I’ve got to say, it’s a pretty great to work for a company that really encourages giving back to the community. There are so many different events and ways that we can volunteer including some spots in the village that I might see if I can help with.
I’m feeling inspired to find somewhere to volunteer on the regular. Do you have any causes that you support in your local community?
