Playback: Feb & March ’16

Feb and March were adventurous months with a quick trip to Mont Tremblant and then a bit larger trip over to India! I’ll be writing more of a recap about that one a little later on, but while that’s being worked on here are some highlights from the past two months!

Feb started out with a lovely lady brunch with Hayley and Jordan. After a quick coffee and snack we ended up on a walk downtown through Graffiti Alley and up through Kensington. Weekend morning strolls with these gurrrls are grrreat. #thebest

While the winter was quite mild for us in Toronto we did have a couple cold snaps. On one of those freezing days we decided to try and tackle a puzzle… which I’m not that great at personally, but it was fun, even though we never finished it. If I was ever a contestant on Survivor, I would fail at all the puzzles. Gotta know your strengths right?

Like I mentioned, there weren’t many snow falls in the city this year. I did happen to catch this shot on my way to work one morning. Dang, I love a good fresh snowfall.

In early January we decided to book a long weekend getaway to Mont-Tremblant. We did a trip there last year when we had just started dating and loved it, so we thought heck, let’s make it a winter tradition. If it’s going to be a tradition I think I need to pick up skiing… because that’s why people go right? We spent the weekend walking around the village, enjoying fireplaces, eating, drinking and getting our spa on at the Spa Scandinave.

Less than a week after our Tremblant trip we were off to India. Ideally, we wouldn’t have planned our trips out like this but when Anuj invited us to his wedding, we said “heck yes we’ll be there!” hopped on the opportunity and booked. This trip marked Matthew’s first trip outside of North America. What a way to do it. More on the trip in a future post 🙂

It took a little while to get adjusted from the jet-lag when we got back. I tried to get back into reality by going on morning walks… and when you do that sometimes you snap pictures like this one 🙂

I really saw my cooking pick up in March when I became re-inspired in the kitchen thanks to Hot For Food. Their recipes are seriously good and show you a lot of different and easy ways to make yummy food.  Check out their YouTube channel.

We spent Easter with my family and Matthew suggested that we take a drive to Niagara Falls with my parents. Because why not?

Every year the Beaches hosts an international design contest, Winter Stations. It’s clever way to get people out to east side boardwalk in the winter. My instagram feed was buzzing with photos of the different installations so I think it did it’s job.

The way the month wrapped was a bit of a bummer. I threw out my back somehow and the pain kicked my butt hard. I spent the last week of March (and into April) stuck on the couch. My mom sent me this beautiful bouquet after I made a tearful call from the pharmacy. I’m on the mend now, starting to be able to walk a bit more upright but still experiencing some stellar sciatica. Now I’m back on my quest for non-medical/non-surgical pain relief. We all have our own things right?

I don’t use much tofu in my cooking either, maybe once every two months? There’s a tofu scramble that I make sometimes from http://ohsheglows.com/ You should do a road trip out here! 🙂 I support that idea!
