How is it May already?! Last month I challenged myself to clean up my eating with a McDougall inspired ‘Above the Line’ challenge focusing on whole food based with an emphasis on starches. I tried to avoid/limit anything below the line as outlined here:

All in all, aside from snacking on chips or treats when out for drinks and some vegan pizza paired with playoff hockey, I think I did a good job. I certainly wasn’t 100% but heck, I’m ok with it. I think that I’m going to keep working away on eating above the line, we’ll see.
If this challenge taught me that if anything, it’s made me realize just how important it is to be prepared – chop up veggies, plan lunches and set menus. It’ll take some time to get it going but hopefully, I can master it at some point… I’m happy it will also mean less waste.
On to this month! With all the wedding doodads and whatsits, I’ve been looking more and more into calligraphy. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to try since I was little so I bought a pen, ink, notebook and a resource book to do some self-teaching. I tested it out a little bit on my own but saw a Bunz post about a brush lettering workshop from viacalligraphy so decided to take it. From the course, it’s pretty clear that I have a lot of work to do. I need to practice and develop the muscle memory. So! This month I’m going to try and practice a little every night. We’ll see how it goes!
